Napier – home to Art Deco buildings, striking beaches, delicious food and wine and an active cultural and events calendar – what more could you want in a destination?
This seaside city has a vibrancy many say springs from the way it rebuilt after the devastating 1931 Hawke’s Bay earthquake. Much of the city was destroyed by the quake and the subsequent fires, and when it came time to rebuild, the ever-stylish city did so in the Art Deco trend of the time. We now celebrate this colourful heritage at Art Deco Weekend in February each year, but we also take pride in the architectural style and survivor spirit of the city every day.
Napier sports not just a great story, but fine shopping, dining, art and culture. We welcome you to explore the many fabulous facets of this beautiful city and the bountiful region of Hawke’s Bay.
